Internet-based-program help reduce risk of chronic disease

Internet-based programs can help people improve their lifestyle, it helps people to become more physically active. It can also reduce the risk factor of disease like chronic, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Earlier, studies shown that use of internet and smartphone can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. According to the new research, it is found that internet and mobile based program can help people get healthy lifestyle and become more active. It is also found that it can help people eat healthy diet and loose excess weight, which can help reduce the risk of chronic disease. The new study also shown that, these program can reduce alcohol intake and tobacco use.

For the study, the team reviewed 224 studies conducted on generally healthy adults and published between 1990 and 2013. “Programs that have components such as goal-setting and self-monitoringand use multiple modes of communication with tailored messages tended to be more effective. We also found these programs were more effective ifthey included some interactionswith healthcare providers,” said Ashkan Afshin, acting assistant professor at theUniversity of Washington.

“Such program can help people improve their lifestyle behaviorsand reduce the risk of chronic disease, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes,” Afshin added, in the paper published inthe Journal of the American Heart Association.
