Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan are overpaid for their work
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap highlighted a key reason behind shutting down of Disney India by UTV motion pictures.
According to Mr.Kashyap actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan are overpaid for their work whichwhich leads to a loss for the producers.Whenever a film flops at box office, its the producer who suffer the loss as the actors already got their payment.
“We had four Bollywood actors (Shah RukhKhan, Akshay Kumar,Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan) in the Forbes highest paid actors whereas rest were Hollywood actors. Anurag said while talking to CatchNews.com
He also added, “Actors from the industry where film earns 300 crore is on the Forbes list and on the other hand, there are films starring Hollywood actors which earn in millions billions are even below our actors on the list. So I hope you got where the issue is. I am not blaming the actors for this, all the blame should be passed on to the producers as they are ready to pay the actor such high amount. Why wouldn’t the actor take that money? If someone pays me, even I would take that.
The case is pretty clear, the producers are getting a hard time making profits are playing a huge amount to the A grade actors. There are already other corporate studios like Studio18, PVR Pictures, Phantom Films, Reliance Entertainment already on the process of closing down.
